Did you know that one in four patients with bone marrow and lymph node cancers do not find a donor?

This was the reason for the recruitment of new donors, on Tuesday, 21.2. in the faculty corridor in cooperation with the Czech National Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Those interested filled out a form and handed in a puppy with a saliva sample, from which the genetics department will determine the combination of HLA molecules (necessary for bone compatibility donor's and patient's marrow) and their results will be entered into an international database. The event was very successful, with 27 new students registering from our ranks!
